What’s In This Episode
A deep dive into the business mindset and overcoming fear of trying new things. I share the new online event I’m working on and how I developed an entrepreneurial mindset years ago that is still serving to create confidence in developing new marketing strategies for 2020 business growth.

When in doubt, add another Zero.
A personal note from Jenn Neal on overcoming Challenges in Business
Add Another Zero!!
This is seriously one of my all time favorite stories. One that I tell a lot when working with other business owners.
The question?
How much do I charge?
Is it really worth that?
Am I providing enough value?
(or some variation of that…)
A business coach I had years ago always had the same answer to this question.
“When in doubt, add another zero.”
Honestly.
And I did it.
And it worked.
Why did I have a business coach?
And how did adding another zero help my confidence?
Well, glad you asked! 😊
Because, I’m talking about just that exact thing in this episode!
Overcoming Small Business Challenges with a Mindset Shift
Challenges In Business
In this episode I share my experience planning my first virtual online event. I have organized live events many times in the past and hosted online training sessions, however, I have never hosted a project combining all of these types of events. I have to admit, I have been a bit nervous.
It calls to mind another time, much earlier in my career when I felt this nervous. I was just starting out in business, and I was using traditional marketing tools. Here in Boise, businesses have lagged about 5 to 10 years behind the rest of nation in adopting online practices. The gap is much smaller now as more entrepreneurs have moved into the area, but at that point in my career Idaho businesses were just making the transition to web based management.
Small Business Challenges
One of the companies that I had been working with on a per project basis for several years, approached me about the possibility of creating an online portal for staff training. They wanted to train their staff of approximately 150 people and they wanted to be able to keep a database of all of their products and programs. They also wanted an automated system for the trade shows and other events they attended.
Overcoming Fear In Business
All of these things were well within my wheelhouse but the scope of the project was much larger than anything I had done before. Fortunately, I had been working with a coach and she advised me to think of a proposal price and then add a zero, and then add another zero.
I thought it was crazy. There was no way they were going to move forward for that price. I was a bundle of nerves when I went in to present my proposal to the president and the VP of Marketing.
They loved it! They accepted my proposal without hesitation, extra zeros and all.
From that point forward, selling high-price point packages no longer made me nervous. I know that pushing through the fear that day helped me to grow.
Creating A Virtual Online Event
Here is a sneak peek of my online event. It will center around content repurposing. I see a hybrid need for businesses trying to create and spread their message, but still have a team that is repurposing and creating posts and integrating that into the rest of the business in a way that’s going to create an amazing customer journey. I don’t want to say too much just yet.
I am not going to drop any speaker names yet because they’re all still in the works. However, there will be some big names talking about storytelling, repurposing on You Tube, Facebook, and in print. We will talk about analyzing metrics, lead capture, and lead capture systems to get all of the people from your traffic onto your subscription list.
The Smarter Content Formula Plan
We plan to do a 3-day event quarterly. The first event should look something like this.
Day #1: Content repurposing
Day #2: Integrating content into sales, marketing, and delivery
Day #3: understanding your data, KPIs, and monetization
The online events are going to be called The Smarter Content Formula. The very first edition should be out soon. If you want to get on a waiting list to get notified when we announce more details, you can sign up at TheVirtualJenn.com
