Happy Thanksgiving! I share some insights I’ve discovered about the power of gratitude and the ways I’m practicing gratitude in my personal life. A lesson I learned from Tony Robbins about the entrepreneurial mindset was a guide to improving my personal relationships – and now I’m looking to share those examples of gratitude in my business. Most important this time of year is to spend time with family and friends and to be grateful for what we have and how we’re giving back – from my heart to yours sharing my thanks to you. |

How To Develop An Entrepreneurial Mindset – Examples of Gratitude
Developing an entrepreneurial mindset is a process. Consider it a journey you embark on. As you grow along your journey, you start to realize that you must shift your mindset to be more positive. More times than not, we are so focused on building our business, that we lose sight of the little things in life. Things that we should be grateful for. Practicing gratitude is the key to learning how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.
Thanksgiving is a time to think about what you’re grateful for. I remember a friend telling me a few years ago that she kept a gratitude journal. She explained that this journal has helped her personally and professionally. While I didn’t want to consider it at the time, what she said eventually resonated with me. I decided to start my own journal. Now, I keep a journal that helps me focus on all things positive. I’ve found that it has helped me develop more of an entrepreneurial mindset. It has had a positive effect on both my business and personal life in many ways.
Tying Experiences into an Entrepreneurship
The truth is, being an entrepreneur isn’t easy. There is so much to do and we tend to focus on the goals we have not achieved instead of the ones we have (no matter how small they are!). I think back to the time when I was at a live event and Tony Robbins was speaking. He spoke about the power of feeling fulfilled and what it is that makes us keep pushing forward as entrepreneurs. We want to feel like we’re making a difference in the world through our businesses. Most people start their business because they feel a calling. That they have been put here on this earth to do something special. As an entrepreneur, it’s easy to not feel fulfilled because you may not have reached your goal yet. But having an entrepreneurial mindset means that you acknowledge your wins no matter how small.
So, what are the things that make you feel as if you make a difference?
What makes you tick? Is it giving back? Money? The type of impact you make on other people’s lives? It’s different for every person. But, you’ll feel grateful if you’re focused on giving back and acknowledging when you are able to do it – even if it’s in a small way. Celebrate the small wins and the milestones you make on your journey. Each little milestone adds up to you feeling fulfilled in life.
One of the people Tony spoke about during that event was Robin Williams. In the eyes of the world, Robin Williams was successful in his work. He brought so much laughter to people all around the world. However, the world didn’t know that regardless of how much happiness he brought to others, he, himself, still didn’t feel fulfilled. Maybe he didn’t celebrate the things he did that were giving back to others. Whatever the case, if you don’t acknowledge the little things you are doing, you won’t feel fulfilled. You focus so hard on the final goal that you won’t feel fulfilled until you’ve reached the final goal. By doing this, you’re disregarding everything you’ve accomplished in the process.
Benefits of Knowing How to Develop an Entrepreneurial Mindset
Feelings of gratitude make it easy to pay attention to the little things in life. Things like finding a dollar on the ground and giving it to someone. It’s an act of kindness that makes you smile and feel grateful that you could make a difference in someone’s day. Wanting to make a positive impact on someone else’s life – that’s growth.
Entrepreneurship is about being grateful for where you are. It’s about celebrating what you accomplish every step of the way. This was pivotal in understanding how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.
Once you start to focus on what you’re grateful for, you’ll notice a shift in your mindset. You may even start a gratitude journal yourself! You start thinking of the things you want to put in your gratitude journal – things you want to remember. Suddenly, you realize that you’re in a much more positive mindset. You are paying attention to the things you are grateful for or things you’d like to celebrate.
Staying Grateful in Entrepreneurship
There are so many tactics that you can use to focus on being grateful. One way is to keep a gratitude journal like I mentioned earlier. Writing down what you’re grateful is a good physical reminder. This will be something you can look back on when you’re having a rough day and remember all the good in your life. Another way is to use grateful language (and body language!) by smiling more, saying thank you, or doing things that make you feel good inside.
A different example is a tactic I learned from Alex Charfen. It’s a tactic I like to use not only in my business but in my everyday life as well! As entrepreneurs, our to do lists are miles long and it’s easy to get lost in the middle of it. And, I’m sure I’m not alone when I say that I feel that my to do list should be complete by the end of the day, no matter how long it is. Each day, pick 3 doable tasks from your to do list. Focus solely on completing these 3 tasks and watch the feeling of overwhelm starts to vanish. As you check items off your items, you’ll be grateful that you’ve accomplished your goal for the day! Celebrate your wins!
What better time than now to celebrate what you’re grateful for? Always remember, life is what YOU make it! Celebrate your small wins and focus on creating a life of fulfillment and gratitude. So, from my team to yours, and my family to yours, I wish you a life of abundance and love.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
