It doesn’t matter the tool. It matters if you’re going to use it!
-Olga Fomenko
A business colleague friend of mine recently reached out to ask me about software tools.
It’s the same question I get asked all the time – and becomes one of the quickest ways you can lose money and time.
How?
Well, let’s look at this example.
We’ll keep names out of it to protect those that need to remain innocent. For the sake of the argument, simply put yourself in her shoes.
She has an assistant working for her, but isn’t sure exactly what the assistant is doing.
She just finished up a big launch and discovered that a lot of balls were dropped during the launch and wants to make sure they are held up the next time.
She’s still really busy so asked her assistant to look into what software tools she should buy so that they can solve the problems the next time.
About two months go by – during which time she’s busy with other things and her assistant is doing a bunch of research on features and prices and creating a spreadsheet of what tools will do what.
All of this to come back to me after:
2 months of wasted time
2 months of wasted money
And ask what she should use.
I told her the same I’ll tell you – it doesn’t matter the tool. It matters if you’re going to use it and if you have a process to run it.
The best thing? My guest expert on this podcast episode totally agrees with me – in fact, she goes even deeper on the topic!
