Offline vs Online Marketing – What Does The Future Hold?

If you’ve been in marketing for more than a year, then you know trends and best practices are ever changing. Sure, there are evergreen marketing strategies that are perennial. But what we are all interested in are those things that do change. That’s why we are so interested in trends.  We always want to know what people are doing and what they like. We want to work with the culture and the technology to get the best result, deliver value, and make money.

For about 30 years now, marketing professionals have scrambled to create the most effective methods for advertising on the internet. But today, we’re flirting with the possibility of losing our human touch, and it’s not a good thing. People are tired of being separated from each other and are growing increasingly skeptical of the top-down approach of legacy channels.  Believe it or not, the more automated the world becomes, the more we, as humans, crave that personal human experience.

So, instead of that, we’re going to talk about how we get the most out of our online marketing efforts and bring back that oh-so-important human touch. To do this, we need to take a closer look at the pros and cons of offline vs. online marketing.

One way to set yourself apart from others is to create a story about your product – a story that people will remember.

Offline vs. Online Marketing: How to Get the Most out of Both

For about a generation, we’ve been obsessed with the raw power of the Internet. The fact that we can technically reach anyone on earth is irresistible. But the world has reached data overload. The Internet is no longer novel. People have their preferred channels, sites, voices, and formats, and they are sticking to them. What’s more, the biggest social media company on the planet is currently hemorrhaging trust over recent scandals and outages. We would like to pick up some of their lost sheep.

Some of the biggest brains in the business are saying it’s time to revamp marketing strategy. They want to give audiences something more substantial. And what they’re excited about is nothing new. It’s events! But that’s just a start. You should think of event marketing as a hub around which you build a complete offline strategy, which will be supported by your online connections.

Your Online Presence

Second verse, same as the first. Your marketing strategy still needs an online presence. It might not be on Facebook anymore. So be sure your audience knows where to find you. You can make a dramatic escape to other sites an event of its own. Let your audience enjoy reconnecting with you there. Maintain your online touch points, but don’t put all your eggs in one digital basket.

A picture can tell a story all it’s own. When taking a picture, you’re trying to encapsulate a story within that picture.

Merch

Shirts, hats, pens, and other things unique to your brand let your audience identify with you. Shirts are probably the best thing. People can always use a nice t-shirt. It’s a fun way for them to stand out and show their support for you. There’s no need to decide whether to do this with offline vs. online marketing. Make it a little bit of both.

Guerrilla Marketing

Guerrilla marketing can be a fun and effective marketing strategy. Leaving sticky fun little notes at random locations, chalk art on sidewalks, and more is an excellent marketing strategy. It’s an especially strong move in college towns, touristy spots, coffee shops, bars… you name it. You could even make guerrilla marketing a hobby!

Gifts, Prizes, & Games

You’ve probably heard about the gamification marketing strategy. It works for both offline and online marketing. People love to play games, compete, and win prizes. That will never change. Give people a chance to shout “woohoo” and score a fun, branded t-shirt. The thrill of victory itself is a powerful reward.

Events

Finally, we get to events. This is what it’s all about. Whether you’re speaking at other people’s events, or just meeting up at choice times/locations, it’s key to offline marketing in 2022. Make your brand up-close, personal. Regale them with real-world things and connections. There’s nothing better for local brands, but it can work for anyone. Even if they only view it on YouTube, it’s still an excellent way to make great content.

If you’ve made it this far, you might be thinking we haven’t broken much new ground here. And you’d be right. But the key to all this is doing it in a way that’s enthusiastic, dynamic, and charismatic. This is where your marketing strategy should be focused. It should focus on injecting personality into your offline marketing efforts. Whether you’re doing offline vs. online marketing, that will make your events memorable. It will also make your audience eager for the next surprise you pull out of your hat.I hope you found this informative. It’s an exciting new time for developing new marketing strategy!
